"Visit Seville"
INTRODUCTION
"Visit Seville" is a project that involves a day trip to Seville. It will take place during the first week of May and it will be assessed as part of the third term. The main objective of the project is to interact with the many tourists that visit our city and to provide them with some information about the most important landmarks: "La Torre del Oro, Giralda, Puente de Triana, Reales Alcáceres, La Catedral, el Barrio de Santa Cruz y el Patio de banderas."
WHAT TO DO
Open a google drive presentation, label it with your monument and/or sight and share it with the rest of your group. You will work on this document throughout the project
Write an opening introduction which you will use with your tourists. Tell them who you are, why you would like to talk to them and very important, WARN them that you will be filming and recording their answers and interview in general, and explain how they later may access the result, via your QR.
RESEARCH. Find as much information as possible about your monument/sight and start writing an interview in which you will check the tourist's knowledge about the monument and Seville in general
Create a BROCHURE or leaflet with the pictures and all the information, as well as the answers to your interview. You will give them a copy once you finish the interview so that they can access the QR code you've created and see the photos and videos.
Put everything into your google drive presentation (canva or genial.ly) and prepare to present to your class.
ENJOY THIS PROJECT, and make sure you all participate and that your voice is heard LOUD AND CLEAR. GOOD LUCK!!!
STEP 1. DAY ONE, TWO AND THREE
1.1 Write the introduction in which you first talk to your possible candidates. Remember to be polite and to explain why you are taking a few minutes of their time
1.2 Choose a landmark (tourist attraction) for every group of the class and do a summary including the main facts about it. When was it built? what for? who built it? why? what was it used for? etc.. This Summary will be printed together with a photo of the monument and given to the tourists as a souvenir.
1.3 Write an interview in which you may find out whether the tourists know about the information you are about to give them. The interview will have 10/15 questions and at the bottom of the interview you must write answers to these questions. You will read the questions to the interviewees and film their answers. All the interviews will be placed on this page and used by the rest of the class (see below). If they do not know the answers, you will provide them. Don't forget to share your interview with me via Google Drive so that I can post it here. Remember to make the google doc "public".
Example:Excuse me, please! We are sorry to bother you, do you think you could spare a minute of your time...?
-We are a group of high school students and we are doing a project about Sevilla. -Could we ask you a few questions? (WAIT FOR THEIR ANSWER, SAY PLEASE AND THANK THEM)-Do you mind if we film and take photos of the interview? Please? Thank you so much.
INTERVIEW.1. What’s your name?2. Where are you from?3. Is this your first visit to Seville?...--...
1.4 Make a brochure and include photos and summaries of the monument(s) you have researched about. Include a QR code so that the tourists can contact you and see the final product of this project (a video and photo gallery)
STEP 2.
2.1 Our Visit to Seville. Every group will start the interviews at the monument or landmark they have chosen, they will film (use your mobiles if you don't have a camera) two interviews minimum and write down their answers. When you have finished, move to a different landmark and learn from your classmates. You need to have at least two interviews in your landmark and one more in a differet one.
-Make sure:
. you've taken photos of each group of tourists
. you change interviewer for every group
. You record the sound properly
. You give them the souvenir at the end of the interview. Brochure with QR
STEP 3
3.1. Make a video (at home) with the best moments of the interviews, include the names, nationalities and other important information of the people you have met. This video will be uploaded to your PRESENTATION and later shown to the class. You will do a little presentation where you will give us details, and anecdotes about your encounters with our foreign friends, as well as a description of the monument you chose.
STEP 4
4.1 Present your project to the class.
Very important!!!
BE RESPECTFUL, say PLEASE and THANK YOU. BE PATIENT. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION AND INTERVIEWS DONE BY THE END OF THE DAY and HAVE FUN!!!
PRESENTATION TO THE CLASS:
Make a google slide presentation and share it publicly on google drive. (publish in Share/Advanced options/Public)
Introduce your main landmark and present the "gift" you gave to the tourists.
Our first monument is...
It was built in... by ...
it was used for...
etc.
Make a summary of the tourists you interviewed and share any information you gathered from them. You must have at least four sets of interviewees.
Our first tourist was... from...
He/she told us that...
it was really fun when he/she...
One thing I learnt from this person was...
He/she/they knew a lot of things about Seville, for example...
what (he/she/they) liked the most about Seville was...
he didn't know ... about...
she knew a lot of information about...
Put together the pictures and videos together, edit them and make a two minute video with the most important moments.
Conclusion. What is your conclusion of the project. How could we improve it?
what I liked the most was...
what I didn't like so much was...
One thing I would like to do next time is...
I'd like to mention an anecdote about our day in Seville...
In conclusion...
