Program Nano Kebangsaan (nanoKEB 2025), organized by the National Nanotechnology Centre (NNC) under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) was held at Hatten Hotel, Melaka. nanoKEB 2025 features two main program which are the Malaysia Innovative Nanotechnology Seminar & Expo (MINSE 2025) and the Nanoceuticals Electrospinning Meeting & Demonstration (NEMD 2025). The event brings together researchers, industry representatives, government agencies, and university students to exchange knowledge, showcase the latest innovations, and foster strategic collaborations in the field of nanotechnology.
The 9th International Conference on Applied & Engineering Physics was held on 30 September until 3 October 2025 at Institute of Oceanography (VAST), Nha Trang City, Vietnam. The conference was organized by Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology Institute of Physics, VAST. We had several participations from STF Lab members, which are Prof. Dr. Chen Soo Kien and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Kean Pah.
Prof. Dr. Chen Soo Kien delivered an invited talk entitled “Ex-Situ Route for Enhancing Critical Current Density of Magnesium Diboride Superconductor”, co-authored by Soo Kien Chen, Nurhidayah Mohd Hapipi, Hoo Keong Peh, Mohd Mustafa Awang Kechik, Kean Pah Lim, Kar Ban Tan, Abdul Halim Shaari, Muhammad Kashfi Shabdin, Oon Jew Lee, Muralidhar Miryala, and Duc H. Tran.
Another invited talk was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Kean Pah, titled “Synthesis-Driven Grain Size Control for LFMR and TCR Effect in Manganites”, co-authored by Kean Pah Lim, L.N. Lau, X.T. Hon, M.M. Awang Kechik, S.K. Chen, N.B. Ibrahim, and A.H. Shaari.
The 10th International Conference on Solid State Science and Technology (ICSSST 2025) was successfully held on 26–27 September 2025 at Copthorne Hotel, Cameron Highlands, Malaysia. The conference was organized by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) as the host institution. The theme for this year’s conference was “Unlocking New Horizons in Material Innovation and Nanotechnology”.
A big congratulations to our respected Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim Shaari for winning the MASS Lifetime Achievement. Also, congratulations to our lab member, Arebat Ryad Alhadei Mohamed for winning the MASS Micrograph Awards and to Fatima Az Zahra for winning the Gold Awards at the conference and to all participants for their excellent contributions and active engagement throughout the event.
32nd Regional conference On Solid State Science and Technology 2024, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, 17-19 September 2024
The 32nd RCSSST conference organized by Mass Chapter UMT along with Research Interest Group (RIG) Advanced Nanomaterials (ANoMa), Faculty of Science and Marine EnvironmentUMT as the host. We had three participations together with two lecturers from STF lab members. The theme for this year conference is “Advancing Materials Frontiers: Bridging Science, Technology, Industry and Sustainability”. Congratulations also to our lab member, Dr. Nurhidayah Hapipi for winning the the best physical oral presenter in this conference and for the winners of Mass micrograph Award.
The 14th International Fundamental Science Congress (14th IFSC), 24-25 August 2023, Kasetsart University Bangkok Thailand
The 14th IFSC was organized by Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University located in Bangkok Thailand. Three universities participated in this conference; UPM, IPB university from Bogor Indonesia and Kasetsart university. The conference theme was " Life after Covid-19: Challenges and Opportunities".
The International Materials Technology Challenge (iMTC) 8.0 & Innocreative Technology Challenge (ICTC) 1.0, 22 June 2023, UPM

Advanced Project Based Learning (aPBL): SIT-IITM-IITD-UPM-UMT, 11th March 2022
This is a collaboration between three countries Japan (Shibaura Institute of Technology), India (IITM, IITD), and Malaysia (UPM, UMT). The purpose of this program is to promote continuous collaboration, cooperation, and interaction between Japanese educational and research institutes and overseas ones. In addition, we want to strengthen good relationship between Japan and other countries and regions that will help science and technology diplomacy.

The 12th International Fundamental Science Congress 2021 (FSC 2021), 24-26 August 2021, Universiti Putra Malaysia
International Fundamental Science Congress (iFSC) is an annual event organised by the Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) since 2008. This year, 2021, Department of Physics (UPM) has been given the honour of hosting this prestigious event for the 12th time with collaboration from Kasetsart University (KU), Thailand, and IPB University, Indonesia. The theme for this year is “Engaging Fundamental Science in the New Norm".
This ISSM 2020 was jointly organized by Superconducting Materials Laboratory, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan, and Superconductor & Thin Film Laboratory, Universiti Putra Malaysia with Malaysian Solid State Science and Technology Society (MASS) Chapter UPM as co-organiser.
V-MTC 4.0 is an innovation competition co-organized by Malaysian Solid State Science and Technology Society (MASS) Chapter UPM with the Department of Physics, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Congratulations to all of the STF lab members for their hard work and success during the Virtual Materials Technology Challenges 2020 (v-MTC 4.0). Our STFLab members were awarded four gold medals, four silver medals, and two bronze medals. You guys are doing a great job.
