Strange Journey
A Strange but lyrical little piece for Flute and piano. To create tension I’ve pushed modulation as far as I dare - a little like I did in the slow movement to my first piano concerto (I wrote this and "Happy" as a diversion when I was at a struggling moment with the piano concerto). It feels a little unexpected in the piano, but it doesn’t take much practice until it seems normal. Definitely worth trying hands separately to practice the end, which quickly shows how easy it really is!
