Steve Locks Compositions
I've been composing since age 11. My music is tuneful, tonal, often rich in texture, sometimes edgy or with a little humour and has received praise from music teachers, composers, competition judges and other fans. I've recently entered a few pieces into competitions and they generally do well, most at least being shortlisted or chosen for performance.
I've learnt composition through decades of score reading, compositional practice, a shelf of books on harmony, form, counterpoint and orchestration and numerous good internet resources such as orchestration online and Alan Belkin.
The spreadsheet below links to the individual pages I've uploaded here so far. All my pieces are arranged in the spreadsheet in different tabs by
year of composition
instrumentation
difficulty
name
Each page comes with brief background notes, sound/video, and some with full scores and parts. Some of my music is for sale but I'll give it away free to mates or anyone who reviews one of my pieces or is persuasive!
The table below is for my original compositions and a few arrangements where I have strayed quite far from the original!
I have made some popular arrangements of Christmas music that is easy to play for small groups here.
My arrangements where I have kept close to the original score, just arranged for a different instrumental combination are here.
