Stateline Robotics, or team 4655, is the name of our team that runs at Hononegah Community High School, Rockton IL, and competes in a global robotics competition run by FIRST.
Our team consists of the people who will run tomorrow's world. Future engineers, programmers, and business leaders. The team has six weeks to design, build, and test a robot to compete in a nationally regulated competition.
Our members gain invaluable experiences in fields they may have never considered before, such as mechanics, programming, writing, and team management. However, not only do they learn new physical skills, but they also learn how to work as a team, communicate, and take responsibility. Joining our team gives our members new opportunities for college and scholarships as well as giving them a skill set that will help them throughout the rest of their lives.
Summary of the Game:
In REBUILT, two competing alliances made up of three teams are invited to score fuel and climb to the top of a ladder before time runs out. During the first 15 seconds of the match, robots are autonomous. Robots leave their starting zone, score fuel - 5.91 in. diameter foam balls in the hub: an open deposit to shoot fuel into. During the remaining 2 minutes and 15 seconds, drivers control their robots. Robots collect fuel from human players at their outposts and score them in the hub. Each alliance has a hub; every twenty seconds, the hub will turn off on one side and switch on for the other. Points are only able to be scored during the time at which the hub is on. As time runs out, robots prepare to climb their towers or continue scoring until time runs out. The alliance that earns the most points wins the match!
