What are competitions?
The competitions we participate in, held by FIRST, are what we build up to during the main season. After the game is released in early January, our team works hard to make the best robot we can. However, not only are we working on making the best robot, but we also working on writing essays and making presentations to give during the competition. We also participate in local competitions, hosted by high schools around the area such as us and Winnebago. Some examples of these are R2OC and Mukwonago. Both of these competitions' prompts are based on whatever game FIRST released that year, and we compete
Will I have to pay for my child to go to competition/Do I have to pay to go to competition?
FIRST Competitions: Technically, no, all of our members can go to the competition since all travel costs and hotels are covered by our amazing sponsors. However, we do not pay for food, so you do need to pay for your child to get food. We will make group orders during competitions such as sandwiches, and have you fill out a form of what you want and we will order it for you. All you need to do is give us the money for your order!
Local Competitions: No, all local competitions, such as R2OC during the summer and minibot during the winter, are free for anyone to attend. Family and friends can come to both competitions and watch us compete against other local schools! Yet, transportation and food costs are not covered by these competitions. Since they are near the area, each student has to find their own ride to get there. As well, most competitions will offer food, so you have to bring your own money if you want any. Both R2OC and Minibot are single-day competitions!
