Infested Protoss were special spawned StarCraft II units produced from infested Protoss buildings, courtesy of the Infestor
The Prowler was a strain of roach once playable in Heart of the Swarm.
Prowlers could move while burrowed.
Early concept art of a Roach
Originally a melee unit, changed to ranged to attack air units. Was immune to the effects of Dark Swarm
The Leech was a strain of Roach that would appear in Heart of the Swarm.
Leeches gained 10 extra hit points when they kill a unit (up to +60 hp) and regenerate more quickly when burrowed.
Strain of Baneling. On death immediately gains back a quarter of the minerals and gas spent on the killed unit.
Replaced by the Hunter
Early model of the Baneling
The Fiend is a Zerg variant strain of the Mutalisk that appears in Heart of the Swarm beta files.

The Behemoth Chrysalis is apparently a pupal form for the Behemoth. It was listed in Heart of the Swarm beta files.
The Nihilisk is a Zerg variant strain that is listed in Heart of the Swarm beta files
The Scavenger was a variant strain of the Roach. Its data can be found in Heart of the Swarm beta files, but it made no appearance in the final product
The Siegeling is a Zerg Baneling variant strain it is listed in Heart of the Swarm beta files.
The Trichinella is a Zerg variant strain that is listed in Heart of the Swarm beta files
Early model of the Corruptor was a ground unit
This 'Fatty' as the model is labelled in the final game, was the original look of the Swarm Host/Infestor
Initially was a flying unit with the ability to land, burrow, and produce "Swarmings." This was scaled back to a ground based unit
Infested Protoss were special spawned StarCraft II units produced from infested Protoss buildings, courtesy of the Infestor. Before their removal, they were subject to balancing as while the infested marine could (and still can) inflict damage instantly due to its ranged attack, Infested Protoss had to move in to close range to deal damage, similar in principle to an "Infested Zealot"
When a Swarm Guardian attacked, it produced Broodlings which lasted only a few seconds. The Broodlings are very weak but a large number could be quickly created, forcing an enemy to retreat. Broodlings spawned when buildings were attacked as well.
Morphalisk was a larger variant Zerg larva created from larvae by the queen. The Queen could target a Hatchery or other larva creation structure, instantly spawning three mutant larvae from it.
The Morphalisk could be moved by the player and could survive away from creep. It had normal move speed, and it was slow off the creep.
When a Morphalisk morphed into a new unit, there was a production time discount. Morphalisks couldn't morph into drones.
Originally the Queen was supposed to have three upgrade stages, where as you grew your hive cluster, the Queen would grow with it. The Infested Queen appears to have been the name for one of these stages. In addition to the icon, the model is also present.
The Queen used to evolve over the course of the game, growing in size as it did so and gaining stats and abilities. Morphing to the Large Queen required a Lair, while the Huge Queen required a Hive. If the Queen died, it could be produced again at the Hatchery/Lair/Hive with any existing upgrades
The Large Queen was produced from a morph of the Queen. If the Large Queen died, it could be produced again at the Hatchery/Lair/Hive as a Large Queen. It would grow one size category upon evolution.
Queens move slowly except when on the creep due to their Creep Move ability, making "queen-rushing" difficult. Queens are much more powerful in overall combat ability on the creep. Its attack consist of spines launched by the "wings" on its back.
The Large Queen bore the talents of the Infested Queen, in addition to new abilities, which are Deep Tunnel, Mutate Larva, and Morph Huge Queen
The Queen used to spawn numerous types of structures upon the creep (mostly defensive). Creep does not belong to any one player, which gave the queen the ability to spawn structures upon "enemy" creep in enemy bases. This ability has since been lost.
When the Queen created a structure, she was not required on-site like an SCV; rather, she built in much the same way that a Probe creates Protoss structures. The Queen had base defense duties, including laying eggs that hatched into suicide attackers.
The Huge Queen was produced from a morph of the Large Queen. If the Huge Queen died, it could be produced again at the Hatchery/Lair/Hive as a Huge Queen. It would grow one size category upon evolution.
In addition to the abilities of its predecessor, the Huge Queen has new abilities, Swarm Infestation and Toxic Creep

The Infested Terran, also known as the Infested Marine, could be quickly produced in large numbers (the exact speed varies due to balance issues) from infested Terran buildings. The Infestor, a Zerg ground unit, could infest these buildings, which then disgorged infested marines. Upon infestation of structures, they were set to pop out automatically, with no build cost associated with them.
The Infested Marine was replaced by the Broodling as the product of the Infestor's special abilities in May 2008. However, they were again produced from infested Terran buildings by the next month. By BlizzCon 2008, they were being produced directly by Infestors five-at-a-time as an ability.
The Spore Host, or Spore Beast, was a scrapped unit concept for the Zerg in StarCraft II. It appeared to be a flying creature with bulbous sacs on its back.
An unfinished model of the Spore Beast/Host was left in the map editor for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. The placeholder name (Zerg Artillery) suggests the unit served a role as artillery.
Early concept art for the Leviathan has it labeled as a behemoth. In early versions of StarCraft II, Kerrigan would have used a behemoth as her mission hub rather than a Leviathan. Chambers would include a central room that blended Terran technology and Zerg biology, a throne room for Kerrigan, and a chamber where Kerrigan would keep captured prisoners.
Behemoths were listed as units in Heart of the Swarm beta files. They were listed as an evolution of a pre-existing unit, and had a chrysalis form.
