Model Science Centre
In order to inculcate the scientific temperament among the students, the UT has established 36 Model Science Centre (4 per block) from 2018-19 to 2020-21 under the Quality Intervention initiatives.
The Model science centres are operational in all the blocks as a hub of science with the aim to enrich the school curriculum and equip learners by providing valuable hands-on learning experiences using high class exhibits that are designed to increase learners' skill and understanding of science, technology and maths – demystifying the world of science & technology.
Aims and Objectives
In order to inculcate scientific attitude and temperament among the students, setup of Model Science Centre is an initiative of the Samagra Shiksha, UT Mission Authority, A & N Islands with the following aims and objectives:
To enhance scientific knowledge, making interest in Science, improving practical skill, promoting innovative ideas and to inspire pupils to pursue research oriented career in future.
To create science awareness, science education and communication among the Pupils and Community in the vicinity of school.
To learn scientific concept through learning by doing, to experience pupils with the joy and pursuit of science.
To function as knowledge hub and as a facilitator for need based and resource based studies.
Creating scientific awareness, science education and communication among the people of the area.
To achieve learning levels appropriate to the class of study in science.
To know about physical principles of Science, medicinal plants., behaviour of Flora and Fauna, use of fertilisers
To educate the community as a whole on specific science & technological interventions such as; Energy conservation, Ecology & Environment, Health & Hygiene, Food & Nutrition, Water management, waste management and eradication of superstitious myths & misconceptions from the society.
