ICT labs in schools
Information & Communication Technology (ICT) is universally acknowledged as an important catalyst for social transformation and national progress. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become one of the basic building blocks of modern society. Many countries now regard understanding of ICT and mastering the basic ICT skills (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving) as part of the core of education, along with reading, writing and arithmetic.
The State Project Office has setup ICT labs in 118 Govt. schools out of 137 schools approved by the Ministry of Education under Samagra Shiksha. Each school has been provided with 10 Computer system with peripherals alongwith ICT Instructor.
The MoE provides a maximum of Rs. 6.4 lakh per school as non recurring grant for setup of ICT lab and provides recurring grant of Rs. 2.4 lakh per school (including salary of ICT Instructor @ Rs. 15000 per month) to the schools having ICT lab for 5 years.

For procurement of computers above the cost of Rs. 2.0 lakh, approval of ECIT (Empowered Committee on Information Technology is necessary. On the basis of approval of MoE, the proposal for procurement of computers and accessories including Desktop computers, laptops, digital boards etc. is placed before the ECIT. Upon the approval from ECIT, the State Project Office procures computers from GeM portal subject to availibility of fund.
