Does your pet need a specialist?
In some cases, we may refer you to a board certified specialist. Boarded specialists are veterinarians that have completed an advanced residency, and passed a national certification examination to certify their knowledge and competency in their area of expertise. We are very lucky to be in an area rich in veterinary knowledge, with UC Davis and a variety of other speciality facilities close by! Some specialists we refer to include ophthalmologists, dermatologists, behaviorists, or internal medicine specialists.

In some cases, we have specialists travel to our hospital such as cardiologists and radiologists that perform echocardiograms and ultrasounds. We also have boarded surgeons that travel to our hospital. Please note that we do not have staffing overnight, so we may refer you to a facility that has overnight care for more advanced surgeries.
Some facilities require a referral from your pets veterinarian prior to scheduling an appointment, whereas others you can schedule with them directly. We will be happy to send your pets records to the facility of your choice or help guide you through the referral process.
