South Davis Veterinary Center has a change to announce!

Thank you for taking an interest in changes that happen behind the scenes. Much of what you read about has happened months prior.  A couple of years ago after moving into the new South Davis Veterinary Center, we realized we would outgrow the hospital. Options to expand in Davis are limited-it took over 5 years before we could finally move into the free standing building that used to be Mountain Mike’s pizza.

We almost doubled in size compared to the previous space; the new hospital design provided efficient work flow and larger sized examination rooms, but not many more rooms. Our hospital mission is to help you in a comfortable, relaxed manner. Our current lack of space undermines this priority. Too many people wait for too few rooms.

At least a year ago, we explored options which included reaching out to other veterinarians in town to see if they were interested working with us. Fortunately, Dr Janet Edson at Davis Small Animal Hospital felt she was ready to retire. We feel this is a great opportunity for our clients in Davis and the surrounding area. The hospitals are at two very busy and convenient freeway exits and on two major thoroughfares.

This coming June, Dr Yackey and Dr Bradley will welcome clients in West Davis. Once open there, we can hopefully stop turning people away at South Davis when our small place is too congested. Some clients (at least 600 households!) can have a shorter commute to see us. Dr Edson’s clients will also benefit from extended patient receiving hours. Both hospitals already have long appointment times to allow for thorough patient visits and we utilize the same outside specialists, so the level of medicine provided will be similar.

During the next few months, we plan to remodel the West Davis Hospital. Our veterinary focused architects consider our patient’s point of view to minimize animal stress. We will post updates here about the process. When we are prepared, the hospital will close for a period for improvements. The ultimate goal is to have our hospital building contribute to your pet’s healing by reducing anxiety.

So to the clients of Davis Small Animal Hospital and South Davis Veterinary Center, we welcome you to the West Davis Veterinary Center. Not that we have a slogan, but it could be: Kind of like South Davis Veterinary Center, only more west.
