If your character grew up in Korvosa, she is particular familiar with the district she spend most of her life in. As a result she will have a headstart on the relationship with 2 NPC from that district, whom will fit her background story. Building relationships with NPC throughout the game will result intangible social benefits for information gathering, diplomacy, rumors and other goodies.
