Eamon Scullion

Eamon graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2005 with a B.Sc. in Joint Physics and Applied Mathematics. Afterwards, he graduated with a Masters by Research degree in Solar Physics from the University of Glasgow (2007).

Between 2007 and 2010, Eamon completed a Ph.D. in Solar Physics with a resulting thesis titled, “Investigating Jets in the lower-to-mid Solar Atmosphere: Observations and Numerical Simulations”. Between 2011 and 2013, he was awarded a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship position within the Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Oslo, Norway. From 2013 to 2015, Eamon was awarded a 2-year Irish Research Council Post-doctoral Fellowship to carry out research at Trinity College Dublin (Rep. of Ireland).

Eamon specialises in observational solar physics, which involves image processing and data analysis on high resolution observations of the lower atmosphere of the Sun, using ground-based and space-based observatories.

Eamon is an active member of the Science Working Group for the Daniel K. Inouye 4-m Solar Telescope (DKIST) being built on Maui, Hawaii. He is also I am a UK contact point for ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter Array) and a member of the SSALMON network.

Eamon is a member of the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS), Institute of Physics in Ireland (IOP) and Irish Astronomical Association (IAA).
