Welcome to our homepage on the California MG website. Our goal is to provide an inclusive space to share experiences, information and resources to help you, your families and friends, and your caregivers.
When I was diagnosed in late 2024, I was not provided with a lot of information on the disease itself. Fortunately, I am an avid researcher and advocate well on my own behalf, and I found there is much to learn. MG can be frustrating because it is rare, and there is no one progression that it follows – each individual has different symptoms, different types of MG and different treatments that work for them. Once I found the MGFA website, I researched local resources and found the CA website as well as the SF Support Group and was on my way. I then learned about Joy’s retirement as Sacramento Group Lead and offered to take that on and add my local (El Dorado County) peeps into the mix. I want all of us to have a place to share, learn and feel supported in our MG community.
The current plan is to have 2 types of meetings: a monthly share and care for all who join the zoom meeting, and a quarterly one dedicated to having guest speakers from the medical or pharma arenas to provide additional expertise. We will continue to coordinate our efforts with all the CA Support Groups and Website for all Walks, Health Fairs, and local events. Please remember that MG is not a death sentence, it is a LIFE SENTENCE! An opportunity to redefine our journey and face challenges surrounded by supportive family, friends and experts and each other!
We host two meetings per month, both listed in Pacific Time: The 1st Saturday morning of each month (10 am – 11:30 am) and the 3rd Tuesday evening of each month (7 pm – 8:30 pm). ALL are welcome and encouraged to join. California has a strong vibrant network of resources, events, and information! We come together to discuss interests, support needs, and topics you would like to learn about. The 2025 and 2026 Calendar is below.
Feel free to email me with your questions, comments, and suggestions regarding our Group!
Warmly,
Jill C Williams
