Aikeremu Amehaiti (UUPA)

I have been a postdoc at the Department of Neuroscience, Uppsala University (UU) for more than 3 years. Postdoctoral training is not only a critical period in academic career development, but postdocs are also significant driving forces pushing forward the universities’ advancing in science. However, unfortunately, postdocs are not well appreciated and universities are not providing optimal working conditions that match what postdocs are contributing. UU Postdoc Association (UUPA) was formed in 2017 to address the issues and improve the situation for postdocs at Uppsala University. I have jointed UUPA since 2018 and recently been elected as the Chair. The core mission of UUPA is to achieve the best possible working conditions for postdocs by working closely with UU, Unions and other organizations. To achieve that, UUPA has been focusing on building a postdoc community at UU; discussing and addressing the issues; promoting scientific interactions and career development for postdocs. I believe the core mission of UUPA is equally valuable for SNPA, which has a much wider nation wise platform. I would like to take part in SNPA’s effort to improve postdoc’s working conditions, enhance their life quality and advance their career development in whole Sweden.
