This workshop provides a comprehensive, hands-on exploration of the model development process in empirical research, especially within the social sciences and management disciplines. it demystifies how theories are conceptualized, how models emerge from theory, and how causal relationships can be identified, tested amd refined. Participants will gain practical tools and frameworks for constructing meaningful and coherent models that reflect complex interrelationships among variables. Through real-world examples, heuristics, and guided thought experiements, the session will equip attendees to build models that are both theoretically grounded and empirically testable.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Understand the foundational concepts of theory and models
Identify and classify types of relationships in models
Construct theory - driven models step-by-step
Evaluate and fine-tune models
Apply the model-building process to real research scenarios
Faculty members from Commerce, Management and Social Sciences
Research Scholars from Commerce , Management and Social Sciences
Introduction to research
Role of theory in research
Different types of casual relationships
Causal model development process
Role of Gen AI in Model Development Process
