The Learning, Teaching and Training (LTT) activity took place in Craiova, Romania, from October 24 to 28, 2025, as part of the Erasmus+ project "Small Steps Lead to Big Changes." The mobility focused on promoting healthy lifestyles, sustainable practices, and ecological awareness through innovative educational methodologies. The host organization, Asociația Culturală "I.C. Michail," coordinated a comprehensive five-day programme combining theoretical seminars, practical workshops, outdoor activities, and cultural visits.
This LTT activity represented a key milestone in the implementation of the KA210 Small-scale Partnership project, bringing together educators and partners from multiple European countries. The programme was designed to address critical themes of health education, environmental sustainability, and active learning methodologies, aligning with the project's objectives of fostering small but impactful changes in school communities.

The LTT in Romania led to learning outcomes in three main areas: healthy lifestyle and nutrition, environmental sustainability, and pedagogical/soft skills development.

Healthy lifestyle and nutrition outcomes
Increased knowledge about risks of poor diet and lack of physical activity, including the role of organic food in a balanced lifestyle.
Ability to interpret food labels and distinguish between ecological, organic and “bio” products.
Improved capacity to design and use fun educational activities and games that motivate children and young people to eat healthier and make informed choices.
Understanding of the nutritional value and functional role of bee products and water in a healthy diet.
Environmental and sustainability outcomes
Environmental and sustainability outcomes
Better understanding of environmental factors (water, air, soil), main types of pollution and basic protection measures.
Ability to reuse household waste and natural materials to create decorative objects and didactic materials, promoting circular-economy thinking at school.
Experience with outdoor learning through treasure hunt activities focused on discovering local natural heritage (Nicolae Romanescu Park). Participants can transfer this approach to their own schools.
Pedagogical and soft skills outcomes
Pedagogical and soft skills outcomes
Enhanced skills in planning and implementing sustainable games and outdoor educational activities connected to curriculum topics.
Improved competencies in organizing whole‑school ecological and healthy nutrition events as best-practice projects.
Strengthened intercultural communication, teamwork and collaboration through group work, workshops and social activities during the week.
Experience in evaluating training activities and validating learning outcomes, which can be applied to future Erasmus+ mobilities and local teacher training.
Methodologies and Innovative Approaches
The LTT activity employed diverse pedagogical methodologies:
• Blended learning: Combination of theoretical seminars with practical workshops
• Experiential learning: Outdoor activities, treasure hunts, and hands-on crafting workshops
• Gamification: Development and presentation of educational board games
• Expert input: Engagement of university researchers and specialists
• Peer learning: Teacher-led presentations of best practices
• Cultural integration: Social activities and local site visits
Impact and Sustainability
The structured approach to concluding the activity, with explicit focus on selecting activities for experimentation with students, ensured that the learning would extend beyond the mobility itself. Partner organizations committed to implementing the acquired methodologies in their respective school contexts, creating a multiplier effect.
The emphasis on low-cost, sustainable resources (recycled materials, outdoor spaces, simple games) enhanced the replicability of the activities across different educational contexts and resource environments.
Host Organization Excellence
Asociația Culturală "I.C. Michail" demonstrated exceptional organizational capacity and pedagogical expertise:
• Well-structured daily programme balancing intensity with appropriate breaks
• Engagement of high-quality external experts (university professors with PhDs)
• Involvement of experienced school teachers from Scoala Gimnaziala Negoi
• Integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application
• Inclusion of outdoor and cultural activities
• Provision of comprehensive certification and validation procedures
The partnership between the cultural association, local schools, and academic institutions created a rich learning environment demonstrating collaborative excellence.
Conclusion
The Learning, Teaching and Training activity in Craiova, Romania, successfully fulfilled its objectives of promoting healthy lifestyles and sustainable practices through innovative educational methodologies. The five-day programme provided participants with theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and concrete resources to implement in their schools.
The activity exemplified the core principles of Erasmus+ Small-scale Partnerships by facilitating grassroots collaboration, promoting inclusion and diversity, and supporting active European citizenship at the local level. The theme "Steps to a Healthy Life" was comprehensively addressed through nutrition education, environmental awareness, and active learning strategies.
Participants left the mobility with renewed motivation, practical tools, and a shared commitment to implementing small steps that lead to big changes in their educational communities, perfectly embodying the project's overarching philosophy.
