As part of the Erasmus+ project “Small Steps Lead to Big Changes”, the partner schools have created an engaging board game called “Play and Eat Healthy!”, designed to encourage children to adopt healthier eating habits in a fun and interactive way. The game combines movement, decision-making and real fruit tasting, turning nutrition education into a playful experience for classrooms and families.
Players start at the “START” square and move their pawns along the path according to the number rolled on the dice. On each square, children must follow the instruction linked to the symbol: when they land on a fruit, they eat a real piece of fruit from a basket; “good tooth” spaces reward good habits by moving forward extra squares, while “bad tooth” spaces send them back, showing the consequences of poor choices in a simple and understandable way. Ladders help players move up faster and snakes slide them back, keeping the game dynamic and exciting.
The board game is easy to use in classrooms, kindergartens or at home, and it invites teachers, educators and parents to talk with children about healthy food, dental care and everyday choices. By combining play, sensory experience and clear visual messages, “Play and Eat Healthy!” supports the project’s goal of helping children take small daily steps towards a healthier lifestyle, while enjoying time together with peers and adults.
