Note from the editors: With the new entry-to-practice exam (i.e. CETP), many are wondering how the experience taking the exam has been for our recent SLP graduates. Below is an opinion piece written anonymously by two alumni.

SLP class of 2022

Reporting to you a year later and our beds are still the most common office accessory - I guess you can say classroom comfort at its finest! 

Our winner this year is someone who has made outstanding contributions to the field of SLP. 

He was nominated by Anna Rupert, program manager at the George Hull Centre for Children and Families and a former student of our winner, who shared a passionate letter of support, detailing the recipient’s wide range of contributions to the field. It is my pleasure to introduce this year’s Distinguished Service Award winner, Ian Roth.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

As members of the new Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee associated with the SLP program at UofT, we wanted to share an update about the work that we have been doing. It is our hope that these survey findings will inform policies, practices and support EDI initiatives within the UofT SLP program.

Driving change in healthcare: Healthcare professionals talk equity, diversity, and inclusion

Even in these unprecedented times, some traditions must be carried on. In June 2021, this meant that the annual J.F. Walker Lecture, sponsored by the Donalda Jean McGeachy Memorial Lecture Series, got underway.

My online schooling journey began in my final year of studies at McMaster University. I assumed adapting to online learning would not be too difficult; after all, I was part of a tech-savvy generation. And in all honesty, it wasn’t. What was hard though was trying to push through the feelings of burnout that immediately began only a few months into the pandemic.
