AP/IB Literature and Composition is an introductory college-level literary analysis course. Students cultivate their understanding of literature through reading and analyzing texts as they explore concepts like character, setting, structure, perspective, figurative language, and literary analysis in the context of literary works. In addition to the content that is learned for the AP English Literature and Composition examination, IB Students are expected to complete an Oral Commentary, and a Written Assignment to submit for examination.
Students will become comfortable with studying literature from various time periods that will challenge students reading skills and ability to analyze a passage. These works of literature are specifically chosen to allow students to think about literature in the context of why the literature was created and what purpose it has on its audience.
