Family Supportive Housing

Homeless Families Needs During Covid-19

Family Supportive Housing (FSH) is a non-profit organization that provides shelter, financial assistance to families, and helps children with their development and education. This organization helps single or two-parent families who are facing housing insecurity. The problem that the organization addresses is important because it is a growing problem in our communities. For example, in the Santa Clara County 2019 census, 921 families were homeless (U.S. Census Bureau, 2019). As well many families are forced to separate if they enter an emergency shelter. Hence, it is important to upkeep this organization and its goals (Family Supportive Housing, 2019).

Going on some of the resources their clients need during this time is to have access to shelter to follow Santa Clara's County shelter in place. Also, the clients need donations to get a hold of food, sanitation supplies, and money. As for the staff, they need training to electronically communicate with the families, protocols for proper hygiene of the organization, and protective equipment (Family Supportive Housing, 2019). Furthermore, some of the things families need to keep communication with staff are access to the internet and possible security hazards. Therefore, it is seen that these families are at risk for falling behind in several ways; keeping in touch with staff and having the proper resources are crucial for them.
