This project involved crafting a question about how the statics of a clothes rod in bending deforms based on the load from clothes hangers. It involved modeling a physical set-up, discussing assumptions, determining whether the assumptions were reasonable, and writing MATLAB code to determine exact solutions to the more complex parts of the problems. I wrote this paper as a final project for my 2.001 Mechanics and Materials class. Below is the write up for the project and an explanation of the steps that went into crafting a good exam question for that class.
