In the spring of 2024, I had the pleasure of working on a seven person interdisciplinary team of designers to create a full experience plant care sensor for MIT's Product Design and Development class.
Our Plant Care team realized the software, hardware, and design capabilities to execute an alpha prototype of every aspect of our product – the gamified app experience, a functioning light and moisture sensor and our cloud-like plant pals. We proudly introduce our Nimbus sensor.
An incredible Nimbus promotion video put together by Ivy and Selina.
Left: Highlighted slides from our final product presentation where we covered the process of defining our primary and secondary users, translating user needs into product specifications, and infographics that show key aspects of our product's cabailities and design.
Right: Our final report for the class covering the process of the Nimbus' development, and the work accomplished across five sprints over the course of 10 weeks. We utilized Agile Development to iterate efficiently from research and product ideation all the way an alpha prototype.
The report includes our mission statement, life cycle assessment, financial model, business plan, and a process retrospective. It also has a thorough design description including: packaging & instruction guide, hardware: sensor, software: mobile app, and user feedback. It also mentions our team organization and the selection of our product name.
