Introduction

The Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple lies in Muthyumpeta village of Mallial Mandal, in Jagitial district, Telangana. The temple is dedicated to Sri Anjaneya Swamy and is located 35 kilometers from Karimnagar. The Kondagattu Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple is very famous. It lies on a hillock in Kondagattu in the lap of nature with a panoramic view of rolling hills, beautiful valleys, and refreshing water springs that Kondagattu is abundantly blessed with.

The road en-route to the temple is very scenic with greenery all around. Flora and fauna are in abundance and of amazing variety. The temple is surrounded by a breathtaking view of caverns and the Rayuni Fort to the north. The Kondalaraya and Bojjapotana caves near Kondagattu can be visited too.

History of Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple

According to folklore, the temple was built by a cowherd 300 years ago. A cowherd called SingamSanjeevadu lost a buffalo, and he came to this area to search of it. After a tiresome search, he fell asleep on the hillock. Sri Anjaneya Swamy appeared in his dream and gave him directions to the whereabouts of the lost buffalo. When Sanjeevadu went looking in the direction as instructed, he found an idol of Sri Anjaneya Swamy. He built a small temple at the location.

The temple was renovated 160 years ago by Krishna Rao Deshmukh. He also endowed some land to the temple. The temple became a trust and came under the custody of the state endowment department in 1968.

The presiding deity in the temple is Sri Anjaneya Swamy. Apart from the main deity, the temple also houses shrines for Venkateswara, Goddess Alwaarula, and Goddess Lakshmi.

The temple houses a holy water tank on the premises. Devotees take a holy dip in the temple tank before they visit the temple.

Festivals Celebrated at Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple

The celebrated temple draws huge crowds of devotees to have Darshan (holy view) of the daily poojas (rituals)and Aartis (sound and light ritual). The poojas and rituals are performed to the main deity in the Chattada Sri Vaishnava Agama Sampradayam.

Devotees perform the Hanuman Deeksha Mala for 41 days during Hanuman Jayanti.

There are regular chants of Hanuman Chalisa in the temple. The temple celebrates the festivals of Makar Sankranti, Hanuman Jayanti, Ratha Saptami, and Sri Rama Navami.

How to Reach Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple

By Road –There are frequent bus services from Karimnagar, Asifabad, and Jagtial bus depots. Devotees can also visit the famous Shiva temple at Vemulavada as buses have regular service between Kondagattu and Vemulavada.

By Rail- Karimnagar Railway Station is the closest to the temple.
