Foreign Extemp (FX)

Description: Foreign extemporaneous speaking is a competitive speech event where participants deliver speeches on current international issues. Unlike prepared speeches, extemp speeches are created within a limited preparation time, emphasizing the speaker's ability to quickly analyze and discuss complex global topics.

Time: 

-Prep: 30 minutes

-Speaking: 7 minutes

Rules & Regulations:

-FX speeches are evaluated by judges who assign scores based on specific criteria, 1 being the best ranked and 5 being the worst ranked in comparison.

-Topics are typically drawn from current international events and issues. Speakers select from a set of provided topics.

-Information must be factual, well-researched, and drawn from credible sources. Proper citations or references are required to support claims.

-The speech should have a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.
