First Week of Classes
Orient students to “LbE” approach
Administer “Design Mindset Survey” to all students (regardless of consent) via Buzz (preferred) or the link below (if distributed in your school LMS/email). Note this is for all students, so, it is a “reflection assignment”, doubling as a research data collection measure. Please do not say this is only for the researchers. Assess mindset
If accessed via Buzz we can embed student ID, makes matching easier
Reflect on student Design Mindset via class discussion (Suggested Prompt)
Leverage educational value - reflect on it with students (not just a research measure, more of a course opener reflection - orient students to Design
Play recruitment video (Link, Script) in class and hand out paper based parent consent and student assent documents (will be shipped to you).
Invite students to participate - just asking permission to see their existing data
Provide students with digital access to recruitment video (Link, Script) and student assent.
Provide parents with digital access to recruitment video (Link, Script) and parent consent.
Digital is preferred, paper might be more accessible
Encourage students to upload assent and consent digitally. If paper based, include demographics from the consenting students (on the second page). Please upload for them if they return the paper based forms to you via our Portal: https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6GzJPywnojtrzam
