UGM’s Emergency Weather Plan opens up beds at the men’s shelter whenever the temperature is projected to drop below 32˚ and opens up our dayroom whenever the temperature is projected to be above 95˚. For cold weather, if the temperature is still at or below 32˚ at 6am individuals are not asked to leave. For hot weather if temperatures are still at or above 95˚ at 7pm individuals are not asked to leave. If UGM doesn’t have space for an individual to stay during Emergency Weather situations staff are instruction to reach out to other shelters or do the best they can to accommodate the individual until other arrangements can be made.
There is parking for guest’s vehicles while they are staying at the shelter. Cars DO NOT have to be donated. We have a parking lot with a capacity of around 40 vehicles for the guests staying at the UGM Men’s Shelter. We do not allow RVs, but will work with a person to get it moved so they don’t have to get rid of it. We do not allow storage of vehicles if the individual is not staying at the shelter.
Regarding food, we don’t have anywhere for guests to store food.
3 meals a day are provided for all guests (lunch and dinner available for the public). We do our best to accommodate medically needed dietary restrictions.
