We recently learned that our very first president, Joe Paulucci passed away on 14th March 2026, aged 90. Joe and his wife, Joan, who died in January 2025, were foundation members of Shellharbour City U3A. He was elected President on 22nd July 2003 and classes were offered within two weeks and newsletters published. Joe was instrumental in finding our first premises at Oak Flats Lutheran Church Hall, later sold and no longer at that original location. The hall became our home for the next nine years. In 2005 Joe received a Senior's Week Achievement Award for his work with our U3A. He was awarded Life Membership of our U3A in 2017. He and his committee laid the foundations for the strong and healthy organisation we have today.
Our deepest condolences and sympathies go to his family.

U3A TRIVIA CHAMPIONS 2026
Winning Trivia Team 2026: Jane Labriola, Kevin Fuller, Dawn Carr, Christine Giles, Julie Carbonara and Frances Cardwell
On Thursday 5th March 2026 two Shellharbour City U3A teams entered the Shellharbour Council Seniors Festival U3A Trivia Competition. We are delighted to report that for the third consecutive year, Shellharbour City U3A Inc triumphed yet again. Does this mean we are the smartest U3A in the area?
Congratulations to our winning team members Julie Carbonara, Frances Cardwell, Dawn Carr, Kevin Fuller, Christine Giles and Jane Labriola. A very well deserved win.
It was a very closely fought contest, which was decided by a tie-breaker. The trophy is home and will remain in our care for another year.
Our other team of Clare Farrell, Liam Farrell, Jenny Long, Darryl Pont, Lyn Thong and Barbara Vicary came third.
Congratulations to all and Well Done.

EXCITING NEW COURSE STARTING TERM 2, 2026
SEATED YOGA/CHAIR YOGA

We are very pleased to announce yet another new course which will start in Term 2, 2026. Expresssions of interest are being taken now, so please register your name with Joanne Griffiths on Tuesday afternoon or phone her directly on 0412 425 695.
The course will be led by Linda Sattlecker, and will run fortnightly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 9.00am to 10.00am at the Oak Flats Neighbourhood Centre hall, 44 Fisher Street, Oak Flats.
Term Dates: 22nd April, 13th and 27th May, and 10th and 24th June.
Cost: $10 fortnightly course fee per term, plus $5 for every class you attend.
This is a new initiative for our U3A, which is expected to have physical, mental and overall well-being benefits for our members.
