Intermediate Bandfest

SEVR Music Coordinators invite students and staff from your school to participate in our 2024 Intermediate Bandfest. The purpose of these events is to give students the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a large, multi-school concert band setting and work with a different and expert conductor.

Rehearsals are planned for the two morning sessions and a performance is planned for the afternoon (which may be a live performance, and/or an audio recording).

Music is available on this page so teachers can download the relevant copies for their students. The standard of works for the Intermediate festival will be aimed at students in their second or third year of playing (band level 1.5-2.5) Schools are invited to send a whole band, part thereof, or individual students.

We are offering 2 separate Intermediate BandFests this year in term 3 and are delighted to announce the following dates:

Thursday 5th September at The Mac.Robertson GHS

350 - 370 Kingsway, Melbourne

Tuesday 10th September at Frankston High School

Towerhill Rd, Frankston

Registration will take place from 9.00 – 9.15am, and the day will finish at 2.30pm. Please be respectful to other schools and the clinician by not arriving late or leaving early.

This year’s Guest Conductor is Tracy Videon.

Tracy Videon has extensive experience with a wide variety of ensembles as a conductor, performer, and artistic director. She currently directs the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony and teaches low brass at McKinnon Secondary College. Her teaching career spans 40 years across many schools in Melbourne and in rural NSW. For 18 years Tracy was also part of the regional coordination team at SMR/SEVR.

She is currently completing a PhD at the University of Melbourne supervised by Dr. Nicholas Williams (University of Georgia). Recent conducting engagements include guest conducting the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Wind Symphony and Concert Band. She has directed various community ensembles, including the Melbourne Rainbow Band of which was musical director for 8 years.
