Information for Teachers and Band Members

1.   Any school may enter more than one band (if demand is high some bands may be placed on a waiting list), however at least half of each band must be different personnel.

2.   There will be a  Junior section – Primary to 9, and a Senior section – Years 10 to 12 

3.   Each band will have a maximum onstage time of 10 minutes, which will include setup, performance and getting gear offstage. Basic gear will be provided so setup time is kept to a minimum. Tuning should be completed offstage beforehand.

4.   Performance times will be scheduled once we have determined how many bands have entered the event, however, students should remain at the venue for the whole event to support other bands.

5.   Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the adjudicators.

6.    Adjudicators will provide a constructive critique on each performance.

7.    Entry cost will be $22 (GST inc) per band.

8.    All participating bands and audience members must be accompanied by a teacher from their school

9.    All band members must be students currently enrolled at the school who have entered the band.

10.   Performers will wear appropriate dress as worn for performances at their school. Offensive slogans etc. on clothing will not be permitted.

11.    Bands may perform either original compositions or cover versions. Obscene language should not be used in the performance.

12.   Groups will be required to perform within safe noise level guidelines as laid down by the venue.

13.  Performers are subject to the control of the teachers in charge of the event and the stage manager at all times, and will co-operate with all directions given.

14.   Teachers should ‘audition’ student-run bands for suitability prior to submitting entries, ensuring that students are well-prepared and that rules are being adhered to.

15.  When not performing, students are required to remain in the venue under supervision of their teachers at all times.

16.   Bands whose members infringe these rules will be ineligible to receive prizes and may be asked to leave the venue and return to school at the discretion of the organisers.
