Main Characters:
Adam Mulvaney
Noah Holt
Adam’s fucked up brain had taken one look at Noah and decided his equally fucked up brain was what he wanted.
When I first read the premise of this series, I was instantly intrigued. You’re telling me there’s a series where actual psychopaths are raised to be hunters who go after people who harm innocents? And, as if that wasn’t already the perfect setup, these psychopaths are also gay — and there are seven of them? Yeah, I had no choice but to read it 🤩🤩
I love psychopaths (in books) 😍😍 I love seeing them try to blend into society and fail miserably. I love watching them get confused by normal human behavior they just can’t grasp 😂😂 I love them killing people without understanding why it’s “wrong.” And most of all, I love seeing them become obsessed with their love interest — even if they can’t truly feel love ❤️❤️ They’re one of the funniest, most lovable character types for me to read about.
Adam is a 27-year-old supermodel… who also happens to be a murderer and a psychopath. Noah is 21. They meet when Noah pulls a gun on Adam — because Adam killed Noah’s father, a sexual predator, and Noah wants revenge. From there, Adam becomes obsessed with Noah and stalks him relentlessly until their relationship takes shape, fueled by that obsession.
It made no fucking sense. They didn't even know each other, but he wanted to be Adam's, wanted his heat, his passion, hell, even his violence. But, buried deep down, Noah wanted Adam because he knew he would burn the whole fucking world down for him and never feel a shred of remorse.
Noah was a such a sweet character. He was so strong, yet you could see every fracture beneath the surface 😭😭 His banter with Adam made me laugh, but what really hit me was how his trauma was shown. It wasn’t neat or easy. His brain had repressed it, hiding it away until he couldn’t anymore. The way it came back to him in waves, unstoppable and messy, felt so realistic. And the fact that some memories stayed blocked, only surfacing when triggered, made it even more authentic. That’s how trauma works sometimes, especially in children. It was painful, but so well done 👍👍
Also, Noah doesn’t go to therapy in the book, but he acknowledges that he will need to and that being with Adam doesn’t fix everything. Which is really important to me cause in many books you see main characters magically healing just because they found their partners. It’s unrealistic and trauma doesn’t work that way 👏👏
“I know you’re mine. I know it. Deep down, in that part of my brain that doesn’t care what is right or how society dictates how people choose a mate. I chose you. I want you. Just you. My brain has picked you, and now, I can’t undo it. You’re trapped. With me. For life.”
Adam, being a psychopath, does have some basic emotions — happiness, anger, satisfaction — but he can’t process more complex ones like guilt or empathy. He’s open with Noah about his inability to fall in love, and instead of pretending, he obsesses 😉😉 He studies Noah, learns what comforts him, what annoys him, what makes him feel safe. And honestly, he was such a green flag for Noah in his own messed-up way. Adam put Noah at the center of his existence and worshipped him. Noah soothed Adam’s violent urges, and Adam gave Noah unconditional loyalty. They were twisted, but perfect for each other 💘💘
The Mulvaney siblings were incredible. Not related by blood, but absolutely siblings in every way that mattered. They bicker, tease, and roast each other nonstop — while casually discussing murder and torture techniques like they’re talking about the weather. I was cackling during those scenes 🤣🤣
And lastly, I loved that the author didn’t just give us a romance, but also a strong side plot. Alongside Adam and Noah’s story, you’re pulled into a murder investigation that adds depth and tension. It made the book so much more engaging. Highly recommended.
