Morayfield station opened in 1888 at the same time as the line. In 1917, the line was duplicated through the station from Northgate to Caboolture. On 28 June 1986, the line was electrified through the station from Petrie to Caboolture.
Morayfield station serves the homonymous suburb of Morayfield obtaining its name from Morayshire in Scotland where early settler, George Raff was originally from.
Morayfield station itself has two platforms consisting of two side platforms. Platform 1 is for inbound services and platform 2 is for outbound services.
Morayfield station has four station entrances. Two are in the carpark on Visentin Road South and two are in the carpark on Station Road.
