Mooloolah station first opened in 1891, when the section of the North Coast Line from Landsborough to Yandina opened. On 28 April 1988, the line was electrified through the station from Caboolture to Nambour. In 2009, the platform was extended with scaffolding and plywood materials. This is only a temporary measure until a permanent structure is put in place. Prior to this people disembarking at Mooloolah had to from the first three carriages only.
