Landsborough station first opened in 1890 when the section of the North Coast Line from Caboolture opened. In 1942 an air raid shelter was built which was added into the Queensland Heritage Register on 3 April 2009. In 1998 platform 2 opened. In December 2006 the state government announced that the station would be upgraded and the work was completed in late 2007 including the building, new platforms, rainwater tanks, shelters, lighting and toilets.
Landsborough station is named after the homonymous town of Landsborough which was named after William Landsborough who was the first European to cross Australia from north to south.
The station itself has two platforms consisting of two side platforms. Services travel in both directions from both platforms however services depart platform two only occasionally.
Landsborough station only has two station entrances. The western entrance is at the carpark on Cribb Street. The eastern entrance comes out at a walkway running along the railway line. Turning left comes out at Leach Avenue and turning right comes out at the intersection of Maleny Street, Caloundra Street and Railway Street. Maleny Street crosses the railway line via a level crossing just slightly south of the station.
Landsborough station does have disability access.
There are bus stops outside the station in the carpark on the Cribb Street side. It is served by the 649 Caboolture to Nambour railbus which supplements the train timetable It is also served by route 605 to Caloundra, 615 to Maroochydore and 891 to Maleny which is a Q Connect service and not part of the TransLink network so go cards are invalid.
