Keperra station opened in 1932 which at the time the line went as far as Dayboro however it was truncated to Ferny Grove in 1955. The line was electrified to on 17 November 1979. In 2008, the station was upgraded as part of the Mitchelton to Keperra duplication which included a new platform and footbridge.
Keperra was named after the homonymous suburb of Keperra which was named after the aboriginal word meaning ‘kippa’ indicating a young man coming from the two bora rings in the suburb where an initiation is performed.
Keperra station has two platforms consisting of an island platform. Platform 1 is for inbound services and 2 is for outbound services.
Keperra station has two station entrances. One is from the carpark on Silvertop Street and the other is from the overpass on Gilston Street
Keperra station does have disability access however assistance is required due to the steep ramp.
There are bus stops nearby on Silvertop Street and Blackbutt Street serving nearby suburbs. The route serving Keperra is route 362.
Keperra station was the highest station in Greater Brisbane at an elevation of 59 metres from when it was built until 2 December 2013 when Springfield station opened which is at an elevation of 79 metres.
