Springfield is the penultimate station on the Springfield line and is served by all train services travelling from Springfield Central to Bowen Hills with many continuing to Kippa-Ring. Springfield is located 26.8 km from Roma Street and the approximate travel time is 36 minutes.

Springfield station opened on 2 December 2013 when the line was extended from Richlands to Springfield Central.
Springfield is named after the homonymous suburb of Springfield which was named after the Greater Springfield development.
Springfield station has two platforms consisting of an island platform. Platform 1 is for outbound services and platform 2 is for inbound services.
Springfield station has only one station entrance which is from Nev Smith Drive.
Springfield station does have disability access.
