Grovely station opened in 1918, when the line was extended from Enoggera to Samford and it was extended again to Dayboro in 1920, which was truncated to Ferny Grove in 1955. The line was electrified on 17 November 1979. In 2008, the station was upgraded as part of the Mitchelton to Keperra duplication which included a new platform and footbridge.
Grovely was named after a geographical feature in Ferny Grove name which no longer exists.
Grovely station has two platforms consisting of two side platforms. Platform 1 is for inbound services and 2 is for outbound services.
Grovely station has four station entrances. One is from the carpark on Blaker Road, one is from the carpark on Dawson Parade and two are at the level crossing on Dawson Parade.
