La 'CARTA' dei percorsi escursionistici:
è strumento conoscitivo, prevedendo l’acquisizione di numerose informazioni territoriali georeferenziate, che rappresentano la base dati indispensabile per verificare l’effettiva consistenza, lo stato e i tracciati della rete sentieristica;
è strumento per la pianificazione, utile ad orientare lo sviluppo della rete ed adeguarne i percorsi, verificare le convergenze con altri settori (progetti di area vasta, turismo, vie di comunicazione storiche, natura e paesaggio, agricoltura, foresta, caccia e pesca, silvicoltura) e sviluppare strategie e progetti ai diversi livelli della pianificazione territoriale;
garantisce la manutenzione ed il monitoraggio dei percorsi iscritti;
garantisce il pubblico accesso ai percorsi.

The “paper” of the hiking trails:
· Is an information tool, including the acquisition of various territorial and geo-referenced information, that represents the essential data base to verify the effective substance, the condition and the tracks of the trail system.
· Is a planning tool, useful to guide the development of the system and to adapt the tracks, verify the convergence with other sectors (large area projects, tourism, historical communication roads, nature and landscape, agriculture, forest, hunting and fishing and forestry) and develop projects and strategies at different levels of territorial planning;
· Guarantees the maintenance and the monitoring of the tracks.
· Guarantees the public access to the tracks.
