Edith May Noble
Edith May Noble
Edith was born in Goole on July 29th 1888, the third of eight children born to William Robert and Sarah Jane Noble. Her father had been a sailor before the family relocated to Selby in the early 1890s, where they lived on Millgate. Edith first joined the war effort as a Hospital Clerk in September of 1918, working in different hospitals in Rhyl, Kent and Croydon until at least the winter of 1919.
After the war Edith returned to Selby and lived on Volta Street with her mother for much of the rest of her life. During the Second World War Edith’s brother Frank and his wife Emmie lived just seven doors down on the same street.
We Will Remember Her.
