The Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. (PTC), through its Resiliency Improvement, Support, and Education (RISE) Program, is one of the official partner organizations of the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) Organization of Eastern Bacoor National High School (EBNHS). This partnership aims to strengthen the school’s capacity for disaster risk reduction, preparedness, and resilience through structured and sustainable training programs.
The partnership between PTC and EBNHS SDRRM formally began on August 19, 2025, when the SDRRM President, Vice President, Secretary, and Grade 10 Representative met with the PTC RISE Program Team to discuss long-term partnership plans for the academic year. The meeting focused on aligning goals toward providing relevant training and continuous support for both teachers and students. On the same day, the PTC team conducted a school-wide facilities tour to perform a Quick Safety Assessment, further emphasizing the school’s commitment to safety and readiness.
A follow-up meeting was held on September 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with the presence of Mr. Alfredo N. Sarabusab (SDRRM Chief / Principal II), Mr. Jerico D. Castillo (SDRRM Deputy Chief / Head Teacher III), and Mr. Jerick R. Alvarez (SDRRM President). During this alignment meeting, Mr. Josh P. McCarver, Lead Program Officer of the PTC RISE Program, presented the official proposal for the RISE Program for Safe Schools—a comprehensive initiative designed to equip both students and teachers with essential disaster preparedness and response skills, including Basic First Aid and Basic Life Support Training.
The partnership will be formally implemented starting October 2025, with a series of capacity-building programs collectively known as “The Big Four”, comprising the following activities:
Basic First Aid Training for Students
Master of Disasters Board Game (interactive DRR learning tool)
Basic First Aid Training for Teachers
School DRRM Equipment Exhibit
These programs align with the RISE Program’s overarching goal to empower educational institutions to become centers of resilience and preparedness. The RISE initiative—rooted in the Philippine DRRM Act of 2010 (R.A. 10121) and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction—focuses on building adaptive, capable, and disaster-resilient communities through education and active collaboration between private and public sectors
The PTC RISE Program for Safe Schools provides a holistic approach to disaster education through:
The RISE Citizen Training Program (CTP): Enhancing the disaster risk reduction (DRR) knowledge and capacities of students and educators.
The RISE Master of Disaster (MOD) Board Game: A creative, interactive learning experience on common natural hazards.
The RISE Program Volunteer Network (RPVN): Establishing trained student and teacher volunteers for DRR mobilization.
The RISE Master Trainer Program (MTP): Certifying key school leaders as RISE Master Trainers capable of re-echoing learnings.
The RISE Program Masterclass: A continuous learning platform for DRR volunteers.
The RISE Program Resilience Partners: Sustaining collaboration and engagement among DRR-oriented institutions.
Through this collaboration, Eastern Bacoor National High School becomes part of a growing network of educational institutions nationwide that embody the PTC RISE Program’s mission—
“Moving together in building resilient communities and resilient lives.”
This partnership stands as a milestone for the SDRRM Organization of Eastern Bacoor National High School, symbolizing its unwavering dedication to protecting lives, promoting safety, and nurturing a culture of preparedness for every Easternians.
