Bird Friendly Coffee
Bird Friendly Coffee
What to know:
• Bird Friendly Coffee is grown in an environment that benefits migratory birds.
• The chart below compares other labels in use today that complicate our choices.
• Smithsonian’s “Bird Friendly” label certifies rigorous standards were followed for farms, distributors, and
roasters.
o
100% Organic
o
100% Deforestation-free
o
100% Biodiversity conservation
practices in place
o
100% Product purity
Additionally:
• While the Smithsonian label guarantees the coffee is bird friendly, other growers may be raising coffee
that meets the same standards but are unable to afford the certification costs.
• Farmer to Farmer, a local Western Wisconsin roaster, regularly visits small Latin American coffee farms
that adhere to bird friendly growing practices.
