Prairie Birds and Ducks
Oak Ridge Waterfowl Production Area (WPA) is located three miles east of the town of Star Prairie in St. Croix County, Wisconsin. The Oak Ridge Lake and surrounding grassland and oak savanna are managed by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Many types of ducks, herons and egrets can be seen here all summer. The adjacent grasslands provide nesting for a variety of birds including Northern Harriers, Grasshopper and Clay-colored Sparrows, Dickcissels, Willow Flycatchers, Sedge Wrens, Yellow-headed Blackbirds and several ducks including Mallards and Green and Blue-wing Teal.
