Willow River State Park
Multiple Habitats, Multiple Seasons
At 2,891 acres, Willow River State Park has a variety of habitats to explore. The prairies offer glimpses of Grasshopper and Clay-colored Sparrows, Eastern and Western Meadowlarks, Bobolinks and Sedge Wrens. Gray Catbirds, and Indigo Buntings can be found in the shrubby edges alongside the prairies. Fields and woodlands hold Eastern Bluebirds, Tree Swallows, Scarlet Tanagers and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. The reservoir, Willow River and shoreline wetland provide great opportunities for migrating waterfowl, Belted Kingfishers and wintering Trumpeter Swans.
