SCPS Course Enrollment

Undergraduate students from other schools/colleges at Loyola may request permission to enroll in courses offered through the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS). Students interested in enrolling in a SCPS Course must work with their academic advisor to submit a request to the SCPS office.

Because SCPS courses are offered in an 8-week session, online format, requests should include an explanation why the student can't complete the course in the traditional format offered by the other schools and colleges at Loyola.

Submitting the Request

Step One: Students should complete and submit the Non-SCPS Request Form to their primary academic advisor.

Step Two: The completed form should then be sent by the advisor (via the advisor’s email address) to the School of Continuing & Professional Studies office at scps@luc.edu.

SCPS students are given priority enrollment for SCPS courses. Decisions for requests submitted on behalf of a non-SCPS student will be contingent upon space available in the course and on the review schedule:

Students will be notified of enrollment approval or denial via e-mail.

Attendance Policy

Success in SCPS courses heavily depend on attendance and participation.  Because of the pace and rigor of the accelerated class format, missing one week of class is equivalent to missing approximately two weeks of course content in the traditional format. Absences may result in failing the course.

Requirements

Students wishing to enroll in a SCPS section should meet the following requirements:

Withdrawing from a SCPS Course

SCPS courses follow an adjusted withdrawal schedule that is different from the 16-week calendar. Students who enroll in SCPS courses must adhere to the SCPS academic calendar and the withdrawal schedule as outlined by the Office of the Bursar. Students do not need to work with the SCPS office to withdraw but should meet with their primary academic advisor.
