Non-Traditional Credit
SCPS students may apply up to 36 credit hours of non-traditional credit (NTC) toward the completion of their degree at Loyola*.
NTC is a way for the University to validate your learning from personal and professional experiences by providing credit options that are cost-effective and that will help you reduce the time to complete your degree. Not all students may have an opportunity to earn and apply NTC and this is dependent on what you have remaining to complete toward your degree. Students should work with their academic advisor to determine their NTC options.
Pursuing NTC should be done as a way to demonstrate your knowledge in a particular subject. Students should not pursue NTC in areas where they have no personal or professional experience. In these situations, the student would benefit from completing the course.
*Non-traditional credit options are not available to graduate students or paralegal certificate-seeking students.
