Materials: Plot of land, appropriate tools, instructions, fork, hoe, cutlass, plough.
Method:
Select the appropriate tolls to complete the tasks below.
Remove all obstacles to planting from the land identified for cultivation of crops.
Measures
Preparation for land for the following crops must adhere to specifications given:
Vegetables: Soil should be ploughed and harrowed and turned over to a depth of 30-36 cm.
Citrus: Plough and harrow the land. Surface must be leveled after ploughing or harrowing. Cambered beds 6 - 8 m wide must be constructed; provision must be made for drainage if the soil is clayey.
Root sand tubers: soil must be ploughed and tilled and ridges 110-120 cm apart and 60-70 cm high formed. organic matter must be incorporated at this stage.
Grains and pulses: Soil should be ploughed, and turned over to a depth of 30-36 cm.
Soil should be left exposed to the sun until dry.
Manure may be incorporated into the soil.
Tools should be cleaned, oiled and properly stored.
