Hour of AI
The Hour of AI is a hands-on introduction to artificial intelligence designed to be completed in just one hour. It grew out of the global success of the Hour of Code, which showed millions of learners that anyone can try computer science. Now, as AI becomes a bigger part of daily life, the Hour of AI helps students, teachers, and lifelong learners build a foundation in AI literacy while continuing to celebrate the creativity and excitement that made the Hour of Code so popular.Â
Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) is the perfect time to host an Hour of AI. Each December, educators and organizations around the world spotlight the importance of computer science for all learners. The Hour of AI offers an engaging way to join that celebration by introducing students to the fundamentals of AI through exploration and creativity.
The Hour of AI is not a one-time event. While it is highlighted during CSEdWeek, activities are available all year long, with special opportunities and programs offered throughout 2025 and 2026. This means classrooms, after-school groups, and individuals can take part whenever it works best for them.
Activities are designed for a wide range of learners, from young children just starting to explore technology to adults curious about how AI works. Whether you are a pre-reader, a middle school student, or a teacher trying something new, there are options for you. No prior coding or AI experience is needed, making the Hour of AI accessible to everyone.
