Artifact Description:
I have chosen to include a presentation that I created regarding one of my student teaching schools, and its community. To create this presentation, I looked into the diverse population of students, how the school partners with parents, extracurricular programs offered in the school, etc.
Connection to Standard:
This presentation connects to standard 8A: "understands schools as organizations within the larger community context." For this assignment, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of how my school fit in to the larger community, and what organizations they partnered with.
What I learned:
I learned that schools have deeper purposes than simply serving the students that they teach. Schools have the opportunity to partner with the community that they are a part of, and it can greatly benefit the community as a whole.
Artifact Description:
This artifact is a list of values that I hold when it comes to working with paraprofessionals. In this list, I describe the importance of communication, space in the classroom, and how paraprofessionals are viewed by students. I hope to add more to this list after beginning my career as a teacher.
Connection to Standard:
This artifact connects to standard 8L: "initiates collaboration with others to create opportunities that enhance student learning." It is important to effectively collaborate with paraprofessionals so that everyone on a students' team is on the same page and that you can set your students up for success.
What I learned:
While writing this list, I was able to think ahead to what environment I want my future classroom to have. I was able to reflect on my values and plan for how I will collaborate intentionally with paraprofessionals.
