I am a picture book author and middle school special education teacher. I am a mother of two young children and one older mixed-breed dog. I enjoy being in the outdoors hiking, biking, and rock climbing with my family. Both my children love reading books. They have their own large collections that they look at independently as well as greatly enjoy being read to. They love books from Ladybug Girl collection to Sandra Boynton books to Elephant and Piggie and Dr. Seuss.
I’ve always been interested in fiction writing. In college, I minored in English. For a summer, I went to Prague for an immersive writing program. Writing has been a passion I've always held but had to be put on hold for teaching. Now, years later, as I’ve become more established in my profession, I’ve had time, energy, and creativity to put towards writing. Also, with two small children, I spend a lot of time reading picture books and being inspired by older authors I grew up reading, like Bill Peet and Mark Teague, as well as more current authors like Sherri Duskey Rinker, Loren Long, Kelly DiPucchio, David Soman and Jacky Davis.
