“I want to help!” Bobby yelled to his dad up on the ladder.
“Sorry Bobby-Boy, this is too dangerous for someone little like you.” The string of lights dangled at his feet.
“I want to help,” Bobby pleaded to his mom in the kitchen.
“Sorry, BobBob, not today. This is tricky work and too hard for someone little like you.” Multiple pots bubbled and bounced on the stove.
“I want to help,” Bobby whined to his sister in the dining room.
“Sorry Bobby-Butt, these are fragile. You’re just too little.” She balanced shiny plates and shimmery glasses.
Bobby plopped down on the couch. There in the corner were boxes next to the tree. He smiled and dragged over the step stool.
First the lights. He stretched and twisted them around. Stuffing them in deep like Dad does.
Now, the tinsel. Bobby twirled the itchy pokey strands, going up and down like Mom does.
Next, the balls. He carefully grabbed the silver shimmering orbs. He pinched the hooks tight on the branches like his sister does.
Finally, the ornaments. Reindeer, skiers, Santas, baby pictures, hand prints, and Christmas Pickle.
Can't forget the star. Bobby wobbled as he reached up high.
"Can I help?" said Grandma holding the step stool.
“Finished!” They cheered.
“What’s going on?” Heads peeking around the corner.
“YOU did this, Bobby-Butt?”
“This is beautiful, BobBob.”
“Wow, Bobby-Boy, looks great.”
"I'm not too little to help!" Bobby beamed.
